The Terrible Old Man Trailer
|
The Terrible Old Man was the final short I directed as part of my MA in Film, adapting H.P. Lovecraft’s 1920 story of the same name.
Principal photography took place in October 2016. Because my original editor had to pull out, a festival version was completed in time for my university submission and went on to play at a number of festivals.
I always knew there was another version of the film in there, though, so in 2018 I went back to the footage and completed a Director’s Cut that was much closer to what I originally had in mind.
It’s still probably my personal favourite of the shorts I’ve made, and one I’d like to give another life through streaming.
Want to watch the festival edit? It’s still available on Amazon.
If you’re curious how the story changed during development, you can also have a look at a couple of the original screenplays.
