Remain Humane (2027)

Remain Humane is my long-running passion project: a mostly improvised feature that began life as an experimental short back in 2014 and then grew well beyond the original plan. After years of extra filming, rewrites, edits, and the occasional very long pause, I’m finally pushing it through post-production, aiming to complete it in 2027.

Demons & Angels (2026)

Demons & Angels is a five-minute supernatural horror short I rebuilt in 2026 from footage originally shot back in 2014. The first version was abandoned, but more than a decade later I went back to the material, cut it down from around 19 minutes to five, and finally found the film I think was hiding in there all along.

Consequences (2022)

Consequences is a reworked version of my 2014 short, The Bully. Years later, I went back to the finished film, cut more than six minutes, changed most of it to black and white, and tightened the whole thing into something that worked far better than the original.

Inadvertent (2021)

Inadvertent grew out of my 2014 short Negating Fear, which I originally made for a Hammer Horror film challenge. When I went back to it during lockdown, what started as an attempt to tidy up the old film turned into a complete rethink, a new script and eventually a full reshoot with a much stronger Lovecraftian influence.

ePrey (2018)

An online bargain hunter thinks he’s found another easy profit when he picks up a stereo for next to nothing. Unfortunately, this particular bargain comes with something considerably less welcome.

H.P. Lovecraft's The Terrible Old Man (2017)

The Terrible Old Man was my final MA film, adapted from H.P. Lovecraft and a much more deliberate step up in scale, planning, and visual ambition. It was completed first as a festival version, with a longer Director’s Cut following later.

Para-Hysteria (2017)

Para-Hysteria grew out of an idea I developed for a 24-hour film challenge; I then spent about six months rewriting it into something much darker about fear, prejudice, and how the media can twist stories. The finished short went on to pick up several festival selections.

You Won't See Me Cry (2016)

A dark little breakup story about an overly possessive girlfriend, one final quickie, and a title that becomes horribly literal by the end.

Daddy (2015)

Daddy was one of the first shorts I made during my MA and marked another step away from amateur filmmaking towards taking the craft properly seriously. It’s a psychological horror built around misdirection, and although I’d make plenty of it differently now, I still think the final reveal works rather nicely.

The Swine Conspiracy (2015)

The Swine Conspiracy was a two-minute experiment built largely from royalty-free stock footage, structured backwards from the finished meal to the rather less appetising truth about where it came from. The statistics are real; the conclusion is mine. Let's hope so anyway!

Carry on Regardless (2015)

Carry On Regardless was made for a Raindance 48 Hour Film Challenge and marked another step in my move from amateur filmmaking to taking more control of the whole process. It’s a dark little comedy-horror about hypnosis, mentalism, and what happens when a sceptic decides it’s all a load of bollocks.

Starting a Master's Degree (2015)

Starting a Master’s Degree was a daft little two-minute film I made at the beginning of my MA, mostly to take the piss out of suddenly finding myself in academia after a very unconventional route there. Harvard referencing, endless drafts, dramatic overreactions, and finally hitting Submit.

Unchangeable (2014)

Unchangeable was a collaboration with my cousin Allan Rafferty, made before I started the MA, while I was still finding my way back into filmmaking. It’s a dark comedy about a homophobic hitman who decides the best way to “fix” his gay son is to take him along on a few jobs.

Trick or Treat (2014)

Trick or Treat was a 14-second micro horror I made for a Raindance competition just before starting the MA.

Hitman: Vengeance (2014)

An early fan-film project conceived as a six-part continuation of the 2007 Hitman film, with Agent 47 hunting down the people responsible for Nika’s death. Yeah, we killed her off at the start. We completed two episodes before ambition, logistics and having fuck-all money finally caught up with us.

Dredd Sequel (2014)

Dredd Sequel: Whatever It Takes? was effectively my first proper production, where I wrote, directed, and generally tried to make the whole thing work. It was built around a daft mission to get home for something important and doubled as an excuse to see what we could do with a GoPro Hero 3 Black.
